well i dont know THAT much but i was babysitting a friends pet rat and she likes to chew on stuff like wood and there's also a thing that looks like chew but it's not and it has a flavor that rats like and can chew on so you could also use that cus they love that stuff (: well hope i helped..
Go to the pet store and they sell a lot of wood things which are better for rats than paper tubes.
