Is it possible to socialize semi-adult rats?

I just got my rats and they are about 4 months old. I bought them at petco and i dont think theyve been socialized at all. Is it still possible to socialize them? I can feed them out of my hand, and sometimes pet them, but they are very afraid of being picked up.Is it possible to socialize semi-adult rats?
Yep they're smart!

They'll get used to you. :)

Just put your hand in the cage without trying to pet them or feed them treats and let them walk up slowly and smell your hand, maybe lick it a few times. Is it possible to socialize semi-adult rats?
very possible...but BE PATIENT with them

the aim is to win their trust...dont grab them and NEVER EVER by the tail

as long as they are the 'pet or fancy rat' variety...wild rats will bite as adults no matter if you hand raised them

pet or fancy rats have at least one altered gene on the neural crest due to deliberate selective breeding...they are tame because they have been domesticated for use in scientific research, so they wont bite and will be approachable

thus they are genetically different to wild rats and this is also shown in their skin pigment colour...Domesticated or 'Tame' rats will have PINK PAWS

to socialise them...

be VERY kind, gentle and patient...

offer them treats on your hand and let them decide if they want to crawl on you...approach them several times a day every day and soon they will be wanting out of the cage and to be with you

4 months is not that old really...you should have no problems at all socialising your rats as long as you dont freak them out
Yes it is possible but it takes time.
