First of all to all that said don't get a rat for a pet, they actually make highly intelligent and affectionate pets.





I've seen rats in my area from anywhere from 7-10 dollars, but if you go to a family owned petstore I'd get my rat there. They're generally less expensive, and healthier.





I got a pet rat from petco once and she died in one week. And this was not my fault. I fed and watered her twice a day, and cleaned out her cage twice a week.
if you have a petland around you the small ones are $4. the medium ones are between $5 and $7 i believe, and the larger ones arent that much either. they dont charge higher for females or males. all the prices range the same. i think at petsmart they might do charge more for females. but you should look up exotic petstores in your area and they will probably be the prices they are at petland..
they are really cheap they could be $5 or $10 or $15 they are super cheap and really good pets i am wanting a rat. here is a link that might help you.

Petsmart and Petco charge way too much in my opinion. It's around the $10 area. There was an exotic pet shop in my area that sold young rats for $5 and adult for $6-$7. Check around different places.
i went to pet smart and i saw fancy mice for $7 ea. if you dont wanna spend that much go to pet city i bought mine for $3 ea and they look like there healthy to me
7-15 dollars. And, ya, rats are awesome, intelligent pets.
I got my rat at a pet store,it was privately owned and she was 6.99$
They are usually $12 a piece at Pet Co.

get frozen ones from a reptile show. you dont want a rat for a pet.
