Would the Republicans give a rats *** about hurricane Gustav if it wasn't an election year?

You are right...it is all for show! An election year to show how compassionate they are (when they can benefit)!Would the Republicans give a rats *** about hurricane Gustav if it wasn't an election year?
That is hard to say. I think they would seeing as how badly Katrina was handled. The fact is I think that Republicans as well as Democrats have learned from the past. Do you see how fast the people are being evacuated? That is because they want to avoid another disaster like the one that happened 3 years ago. We can not control the weather itself, but we can control how the situation is handled. Right now its being handled a lot better than before and that is because everyone knows that it was poorly taken care of last time. Good job on the officials this time around, and I wish the evacuees and those that own the homes in LA the best. Would the Republicans give a rats *** about hurricane Gustav if it wasn't an election year?
The main problem with Katrina fiasco was that the Governor of that state and the Mayor of New Orleans screwed up. They were given money ten years prior for infrastructure but they used it for something else.

Also for those who don't know and I'm going to guess its most. The Federal Govt. is not allowed to come into a state and offer any assistance until the state or city asks for it. That's what protects us from having Federal troops in out streets. Its also the reason why we can't put full time military on the borders. The mayor of New Orleans and the Gov did not request help from the Fed Govt until after the storm hit instead of before like they are doing now.

You can blame the Mayor of New Orleans for Katrina.
Not if there were anywhere else they wanted to be. Might interfere with their golf games, and yachting excursions. But that is just like anything else they have pretended to care about the last 8 years. They are real good pretenders, too, just look at how so many people believe the roll playing Bush did.
Yes!

...they'd just be patronizing about it.

';And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this--this is working very well for them.';

That's Barbara Bush. Yes, on the victims of Katrina.
The republican governor of Louisiana is actually doing his job regarding disaster plans. He's not performing as his democratic predecessor did, when she told the President every thing was fine 12 hours after the levees broke.
You got that one right. Look at what McCain did. Taking his crew down they to get on TV to say to the American people see I care about this.

Like he did the last time. Having birthday cake with Bush.
Amazing how much power the people give Bush...but back to your question...

It is an election year and where is Obama? Sending an email and telling his supporters to help. If nothing else he can delegate.
Republicans don't give a rats a$$ period. All they care about is power and the well connected/wealthy.
Stop using a hurricane and other people's suffering for your petty, trivial, political nonsense.
Apparently Democrats think hundreds of people about to die is funny.

franmar....thank you!! wow, everyone was so quick to blame Bush and his hands were tied, I am not a big fan of Bush but that one was definitely not on him.
tell me about it, they wouldn't give a damn if it wasn't for the election. thanks for the question
No. They're licking their chops because they're going to use the tragedy for political gains. It's sad, but very true.
Why don't you run your *** down to New Orleans and ask them.
I highly doubt they would care. As a matter of fact, I doubt they REALLY care now.
noway.. they didnt give a crap during katrina!
Hell no.
Hell no. Look what a wonderful job they did during Katrina.
H*ll No. Did a give one about Katrina?
nope.
They don't and you know it
of course not, it's all part of the politics.
