Why do rats who drink from sewers not get ill and die like we would?

Rubbish question!

Rats do get ill and will die eventually as happens to all organisms. Their immune systems undergo extensive challenge from birth and most rats have developed immunity to many pathogens through constant exposure. Humans can also exhibit such as evident through the ages and primitive tribes surviving in natural conditions. Why do rats who drink from sewers not get ill and die like we would?
Hmm rats shouldn't get sick from a human virus such as the common cold because it is specifically designed to affect humans. That's is why they can carry disease without dying off. I'm sure rats aren't immune to rodent diseases like wet tail, but they don't need immunity from human disease because it can't harm them. Why do rats who drink from sewers not get ill and die like we would?
I dont think they drink sewage water - they would get clean water, such as rainwater maybe.

And no, rats are not immune to all diseases, one of my pet rats had cancer.
This is a very clever and insightful question but im sorry i don't know the answer. Try looking on wikipedia
