What's the best way to stop rats stinking?

I'm just wanting to know how to avoid it and prove the family wrong that they're intelligent animals and clean not the ''filthy sewer rats'' people think there all are. What's the best way to stop rats stinking?
They are intelligent animals and make great pets. The best way to keep the smell down is to clean the cage often (once a week or so). What's the best way to stop rats stinking?
Rats are very clean animals, but you have to help them by keeping their environment clean too. Clean their cage once a week, replace the bedding clean their house any shelves in the cage etc. If need be you can also bathe them. My rats hate it but they're so clean afterwords. I use regular dog shampoo and wash them under running water in the sink, but you have to be really careful not to get water in their ears, eyes or nose.

Good luck!
Well once when I tried to introduce two male rats, I rubbed them both with Imitation Vanilla so that it would block their natural urine smells. That way they wouldn't feel territorial around each other.

Anyways, a year later they BOTH smelled like Vanilla! LMFAO. Like the smell never came off lol. And it's not harmful to them at all so yeah ... that's how you can change the Rat's scent. Just don't use like ... perfume or something. That would just be a flat out retarded idea.

When it comes to the cage ... believe it or not, you can litter box train rats. I stuck a little tin of litter in one of my rats cages and he just naturally started to use it without any training. Not all of them will do that though. Every rat has a different personality. Might as well give it a shot though.

Try using scent absorbing litter. Don't use fragrance litter though because it's bad for them. Keep the cage clean and it'll smell fine.
Spot clean the cage everyday, remove any leftover food, and have a large enough cage for the amount of rats you plan on having and clean it at least once a week, if not more often depending on the bedding you use.

If the cage is clean, the rats don't smell.
if its they're feces and urine, then you can buy this stuff at petsmart or i guess any other pet store but i used to use it on my rabbit because it stayed in my room but is this liquid stuff you put in its water and it neutralizes the smell
Although all animals have a scent rats tend to smell more if their environment smells. As others have said keep the cage spotless and clean up their toilet area regular and you shouldn't have much of a problem.
They don't stink, their cage does. You keep their cage clean and they'll keep themselves clean.
spot clean everyday (take out their poo) and give the cage a good clean once or twice a week.
How about you keep them clean...now there's a thought. :roll
clean its cage twice a week and the cage won't stink
