Could someone please give me some good info on pet rats as my parents still need persuading?

I want to get 2 rats so if anyone could tell me some good info i would be really greatful. my parents still need pursuading so pleez help!!!Could someone please give me some good info on pet rats as my parents still need persuading?
Rats are smarter %26amp; friendlier than most other small pets. They learn their names %26amp; can even be litter box trained. A well socialized rat is very unlikely to bite.

The fact that you want to adopt 2 rats shows that you've done some research %26amp; know how social these little guys are. Find out as much as you can from ratfanclub %26amp; other websites. If you have friends with rats, talk to them %26amp; have them talk to your parents. Let your parents know how well-informed you are, have them meet some of your friends' rats if possible %26amp; give a detailed explaination about where you would keep your rats %26amp; how you will care for them. If you have pets now, make sure you're giving them proper care %26amp; attention so your folks will know that you see pet adoption as a life long commitment, not a passing whim.Could someone please give me some good info on pet rats as my parents still need persuading?
First of all, ignore Markie. They only stink if you don't clean their cage. ;)

Tell your parents that 2 rats is a lot less work than a dog or a cat. (Maybe that would put it into perspective for them. lol!)

Rats are very clean animals also. They're always grooming each other and can be litter trained. They love their owners. Unlike hamsters and mice, rats can be played with. In fact, they WANT to be played with. And the longer the better. They're not a ';display'; pet, but a real full-on companion pet. And 9 times out of 10, they will not bite. A happy rat (one that has room to play, another rat friend, food, water, and toys) is content and will not bite.

Also, (this is quite sad, but it might make your parents happy) they only live for about 3 years.

They're very intelligent, and can be taught various tricks too.

The minimum cage size for two rats is 24 inches long, 12 wide, and 24 tall. That's not a very big cage, and it wouldn't take up a lot of room. (Of course, bigger is always better and more fun!)
More than likely there's a reason your parents don't want rats in the house, or don't want you having rats just yet. Make sure to find out why. Are they afraid of rats or are they concerned you don't know enough to care for them? Will you be paying for the rats and their care/vet bills or will you be relying on your parents for monetary care? This, too, plays an important role on whether or not you'll be able to ';convince'; your parents that you should get rats. The economy is bad right now and we're all holding on to our money like crazy, so they may not want to make that investment right now.

Rats are extremely clean creatures, needing baths every 6 months or less! They can be taught their names, to be litter trained, or to do tricks. Rats are, relatively, inexpensive to upkeep, except vet bills later in life. Unlike other rodents, rats rarely bite, and are more prone to give and accept affection. If you've done tons of research, you know the good points of rats, so explain them to your parents. :)

Good luck!!!
I've had pet rats before. They were quite nice actually. :] All you have to do is get them at a responsible pet store, keep them happy, clean their cage frequently, of course give them fresh food and water everyday, and they should be fine! If I were you, I would get mice first. You know the little white ones. They are adorable. Then after that get rats. :D

Hope I could help!
okay pet rats are the worst pet u can get they are messy and stinky!!! i would say pick another animal!!!
