This will depend on the tumor and where it is located. Each tumor is different. A benign tumor will continue to grow. Often times you will see one appear out of nowhere and grow quickly. These don't stop growing and can begin to deplete your rat's body of needed nutrients. The best option for these is to take them to a vet to have them removed as early as possible. A malignant tumor is more serious (these will also continue to grow). If you catch these early and remove them it is better for your rat than if you let it go as the cancer can spread to vital organs.
Is there a reason you ask? The best thing for your rat would be to see a vet and get the tumor removed. The cost of removal does vary from place to place but it is always well worth it. My vet recommends spays to all owners who see her in order to prevent tumors from forming in the first place. Many rat owners will set aside funds each month or so in case of a tumor so that those funds are already there. Tumors are quite common in rats as are respiratory infections so any owner that decides on rats should make sure they can financially support them.
Good luck to you! =)How long do rats normally live for, when they have tumours?
Tumors arnt usually painful in rats but they have to be removed and it doesnt cost very much. If you rat has a tumour, then please go see the vet right away!!How long do rats normally live for, when they have tumours?
What a question. It depends on if the tumour is cancerous or not.
