I got new pet rats, and there cage is in my room were my two dogs sleep. They are kinda scared of the rats right now and they stay away from my room, will the dogs start coming back in my room after a while and stop being afriad of them at night when they move? Will my dogs get use to my new pet rats?
Never trust your dogs with the rats. That is exactly what a lot of dog are bred to hunt.
I have guinea pigs, birds, and other animals that my dogs take high interest in, but they are never allowed to be alone with any of those animals alone.
They do go in the same room as them. The Guinea pigs sleep in the same room with me and the dogs. The dogs have learned to leave them alone basically, but I would never trust them. Will my dogs get use to my new pet rats?
Probably, just give them a little time. But be sure to keep your rat cage where the dogs can't reach. Once they're no longer afraid, they may get curious, and knock the cage over, which can scare your rats to death.
Probably. They'll get used to the smell, especially if you act like your natural self and tempt them into the room every once in a while with some meat or treats. They'll sniff around the cages and see what's up.
Most likely yes, but it will take some time. It depends on the breed. Even if it is a rat terrior it stil may get used to them if they're a puppy. Even a rat terrier will get used to them over time. My dog took a while to get used to my cats, it took about 6 months, but now hes sorry he made friends with them, they keep sticking their butts in his face lol. But he is very kind to them. A great way to get your dogs used to the rats is to cage your dog, then bring the rats over near him, not too close too quickly, praise your dog and give him treats, Even do tricks with your dog to distract him from them. Praise the rats too to make them seem apart of the family. Make sure to pay more attention to your dogs than to the rats, dogs can get pretty jelouse.
