My rats got some kind of cough and his nose bleeds?

I know that rats sneeze blood (porphyrin or whatever it's called) but ever since I got him he has had it coming out his nose and corners of his eyes the pet shop said it was normal but he also sneezes and coughs. I don't know why it's like that besides that he's fine. (He always has it stained around his nose.My rats got some kind of cough and his nose bleeds?
well the red stuff is not normal, you're misinformed there. it may not ';hurt'; your rat, but it means he or she is very stressed. and that is not a good thing. try changing it up a bit for him/her and see if there is any difference. the coughing and sneezing occurs sometimes when you first bring them home, i have no idea why. a lot of people claim this happens to them, and i have had it happen to me. if the coughing and sneezing does not stop, your rat probably has a respiratory infection. if your ratty is alone, i would recommend getting him a playmate, AFTER he is treated, if it is determined he has an infection. rats usually are better in groups. if you have others, for right now i would seperate him before the others get infected, if they aren't already. hopefully i helped!





EDIT: by changing it up, i mean change things inside the cage or move the location of the cage if it's drafty or loud.My rats got some kind of cough and his nose bleeds?
I would take him to the vet...just to be on the safe side...
did it get into d-con?
