Are common rats known to burrow tunnels in earth like rabbits?

Just found a fresh newly dug burrow in my back garden in a bank under a tree. It's too small to be a fox or badger hole and I think its too small to be a rabbit hole. I don't want to fill it in until I'm completely sure (just in case it belongs to a hedgehog or a non-vermin animal) I'm not to sure rats do that (I thought they nested elsewhere) but I'd appreciate some advice. Thanking you.Are common rats known to burrow tunnels in earth like rabbits?
Yes rats do dig tunnels in the wild. I'm a farmer and believe me they do. They usually tunnel in weed rows close to fields where there food source is. Look around the nearby area and see if there is an abundant food source. They like nuts and seeds but will eat just about anything. They also collect weird objects. They like shiny things or as the younger generation calls it, bling-bling. lol.Are common rats known to burrow tunnels in earth like rabbits?
sounds like a rat hole to me.they will get in anywhere.filling it in wont stop them, they can gnaw through anything including concrete and steel.your best bet is rat poison.that will get rid once and for all.
To my knowledge rats will take over another animals hole but they usually don't dig their own. However they are resilient little rodents and it is possible. ~M~
Yes Rats Do Too

I Have A Rat and He Likes To Build Tunnels In His Cage!

Its VERY common for hamsters to do this!

Just Block It Up..

The Rats Will Find A Way Out!

Good Luck (:
Yes I have heard that they do this. Do a web search about it.

Make sure you fill up any holes in your back wall!
