Baby boy and girl rats should be separated from each other at 5 weeks old, and baby boys should be separated from their mom at 5 weeks old. But they should be about 6 weeks old before going to their new home.
Most petstores will give away rats at the age of 4 weeks old but that is way to early. I have had loads of litters and I dont give mine away till they are 6 weeks almost 7 weeks old.
5 to 6 weeks, preferably 6. but make sure to separate males and females before that.
they can go when they are eating and drinking by them selves...

and when they also have hair on them {{of course}}
